Sprinkle Baby Shower for Kate

Baby Kate and I were honored with a "sprinkle"baby shower this weekend. (A shower for moms who already have children more to honor and "sprinkle" them with gifts, instead of showering them with car seats, high chairs....you know the necessities!) It was so enjoyable; not like wedding showers or even first baby showers when you leave sweating from opening gifts and saying thank you....it was just relaxing and fun! We had a great lunch, Ms. Baughes cake, and sweet sensations cookies. The girls below (including Amanda, who had to leave early and missed the picture) were hostesses and are great friends! I am lucky to have them. They gave me this Maclaren umbrella stroller, which is like a dream come true for me....I have had multiple strollers between Lane and Bo (several doubles, big Graco, jogging, cheap umbrella) but have never been satisfied....and to me a stroller is important, something you use a lot! I read review after review and even went and pushed them around and this was my favorite!

Gigi was headed to see Uncle Hunter play ball when she left!

Sweet little girls and Big sister Lane!

Here is a glimpse of the gifts.....Lots of pink made specially for Kate!

The most special gift was from my mom....here is the letter that went with it and a picture of the table and inscription on the bottom....she is so sentimental and thoughtful!

Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde....

Bo got his first sad face at school this year the other day......I don't know how it was his first, but anyway.....he was standing in his seat on the bus (they had a subsitute driver and he thought he would test her). This is his apology note (that his teacher had him write, thankfully!)
But here are some sweet stories on him from the last few weeks.....

I got him out of the bathtub and he looked down and pointed to his forearm and said, "momma, why is it growin'?" And I said "why is what growing?" (I thought he meant a freckle)...then he said "No, right here", still pointing to his arm. So I said, "You mean why is your arm growing?". He said, "No, see, my fur. Why is my fur growing?" (the hair on his arms!)

He was riding in the truck with Rob the other day and they passed a cemetary. Bo said, "Daddy, I want to die" Rob said, "Why Bo?" He said, "So I can go to heaven". Rob said, "Well, Bo, we want you to stay here with us for now, but you will go to heaven one day." Bo said, "Okay................Daddy, can we go huntin' in heaven?" Rob said he said ,"We will see when we get there!"

When he wants to get up from the table at a meal he says, "Can I be may excused please?"

He came down and got in the bed with us in the middle of the night and he said, "Momma, my foot is crooked." I said,"What do you mean?" He said, "It's crooked." I reached down and felt of it and said, "It's okay, just go back to sleep" He woke up the next morning and the first thing he said was,"Momma, my foot is not crooked anymore." (I wonder if it was a dream or his foot was numb or what!)

Another funny thing is the way he thinks about the baby, he thinks she lives in there like a little house or something. He thinks she wears clothes and uses a spoon to eat. He thinks she has toys in there to play with or something......he has no idea she lives in water! I get these red spots on me when I am pregnant (what joy!) and he asked me "whats that?" (pointing to a red spot on my arm) the other day....I said "well, it's kind of from baby Kate, just something that can happen when you have a baby in your belly." He said, "She bit you on your arm?"

What's wrong with this picture?

Girls night!

Here are some pictures from a little mini concert I took Lane to (she was invited by a "first grader" at her school....she thinks it is pretty cool to know a first grader...she spends a lot of time in Ms. Georgia's room afterschool because her daddy is usually tied up)....this little 12 year old "Brittany Russell" can sing! I just enjoyed a few hours of no boys!
mani's and pedi's

Lane much preferred to take pictures over dancing!

Happy Valentine's and Happy Birthday!

What precious gifts from the kids!

Rob gave Lane a pink rose and me a red one...

(Christi don't laugh at these cupcakes...the kids made them (or at least that's who I am going to blame!! You don't have to worry about getting the icing to look good when you have these terrible tasting candy hearts to slap on the top!) And look, Lane can be your assistant if you ever need one.....

Lane made the birthday hat for him to wear!

Another birthday/Valentine's day celebration at our house complete!

A little gymnast??

Here are the baby's 4-D ultrasound pictures...a couple of good ones, but she kept her feet and hands and umbilical cord in front of her face most of the time! Yes that is her foot above her head!

And thanks to her "Ellie" her is what we have done on getting her room ready....

Professional snowman builder!

Man, this surprise snow we got was the BEST for building a snowman....our 4 wheeler isn't running so great, so no sledding this time! However, Lane is now a professional snowman builder, so if you have any snow still lingering and need some yard decor, she can help! Bo and I went in after we threw up a quick little snowman (because he just equates snow with hot chocolate, so he will go outside for 2 minutes and say, "now can I have my hot chocolate!")....but Lane stayed out there by herself for an hour just rolling snowmen....I looked out the window and there were little miniature snowmen all over the yard! She is a task oriented girl! Then she opened the front door and hollered at me "I need a bowl to put the snow for the snow cream in!" On to task #2! Hope everyone has enjoyed their snow break...unfortunately, I have had to work most of it...oh well, I am off tomorrow and Monday. Have a good weekend.

Teamwork!

I bought the kids valentines for their classmates today and as I was cooking supper (I made shrimp and grits for the first time and I must say it was pretty good...Bobby Flay food network recipe)......anyway, I looked over and they were working together on their valentines. With NO help from me, these two finished all of their valentines and had them sacked up and ready to go! Lane took the lists, helped Bo write his and marked all of the names off as they went. They are so independent....guess that's what comes with being 15 months apart. I am afraid Kate may be a little more needy.....at least that is what momma keeps telling me...that she will be spoiled rotten!
On that note (baby Kate), I went to the doctor today (26 weeks) and everything was good...which was great for me to hear...I have been having contractions for a while, and started on progesterone injections about 6 weeks ago (which I am now giving myself!), so I was relieved to here that she seems to be holding out well with no signs of an early arrival at this point! Hopefully I will have some good 4D pictures to post in a couple of weeks (my doctor does a free one!).....

Two days in the Snow....

Here are our snow pictures from the rain/snow/sleet of 2010! It looks like we probably bot 8" or so.....we started day 1 making a big breakfast including monkey bread and cutting up the buiscuts for our chicken and dumplins for dinner....
Then we went out in the cold for some attempts at throwing snowballs, which was very frustrating with this snow....so on to sledding which was much better. We played with our neighbors and even had some 4 wheeler action.

After a face first fall!

Glen and Rob just had to try out the new sleds....see below for the results of their playing!

The result of the daddies on the sled....can you believe Rob is the one that broke it....and not Glen!!

The traditional snow cream and hot chocolate when we came in.
We actually had enough of each other and got out tonight and went to eat and to Walmart....it was tough getting out of the driveway...but a Toyota Sienna makes a pretty good snowmobile! The roads were TERRIBLE...I am sure they will be out of school again on Monday, but I will be back at work.....Have a good rest of your weekend.

A first of many.....

or so his daddy hopes!! Bo has been begging Rob to take him hunting the last month, but Rob has wanted to wait for just the right conditions....not too cold, a perfect place, not too early in the morning, ect. Well, today was the day...his first squirrel hunt. Rob went hunting this morning and then was going to come get Bo after lunch for an afternoon hunt. Bo walked around the house in carhart bibs, a camo coat and hat, and his boots all morning waiting. As soon as Rob got home, he ran outside and they messed around out there for an hour with the dogs before they left. The bottom picture is Bo locking the dogs in the box (Tarzan, Bo's 10 month old puppy in training & BB, who is in her prime for hunting)...look at his sweet little tongue working as he tried to fasten it! I just talked to them; they are on their way home and killed a limit (10). Rob got his truck stuck, but luckily the friend he was with pulled him out. Sounds like it was an adventure.....

"BB"

"Tarzan" licking Bo! This dog is full of himself....reminds me a lot of a 4 year old little boy I know who named him Tarzan!
