May 1, 2010 Flood

Pictures from the terrible flood in May.....We were at home with a new baby, Lane and Bo had Jamboree and ball pictures cancelled....obviously....our power was out for a couple of hours, I had cooked a big breakfast, so we ate in the dark...but this was quite minor compared to the devastation around the area. Millington, Dyersburg, and Nashville were hit the hardest. Several dams broke, the Naval Base was evacuated/underwater, the Opryland hotel was evacuated/flooded up to doorways, downtown Nashville underwater. I remember Rob waking up (well getting up when Kate got up!) several times in the night and saying, "we are getting pounded, I have never heard so much rain" When we finally got up that morning and looked out the window, Hall Road was flooded. Uncle Dolph's store was flooded the worst ever (it has flooded many times in the past!). There were numerous deaths in the state. We may never see this again. ...(I was a blog theif and stole some pics, I wasn't out to take any!)

I have had the BEST Mother's Day today! My husband let me sleep late while he and the kids made delicious apple bran muffins (which I told him were the best thing he has ever cooked in 10 years of marriage...yes, it was a boxed mix, but they were perfect)....we had breakfast and I opened gift ...lots of "handmade cards and goodies" from my two crafty kids along with a bracelet, necklace, and earings that they picked out at Pebbles themselves (with their Ellie) and beautiful bracelet with my kids names engraved from Rob, lunch at mom's (fabulous) and to top it off I started back running today....it felt great! We still have not gone back to church yet...maybe next week....and it felt so strange not to be in church on mother's day....but I
have been thankful to God all day for the blessing of my family! I also have thought about others who may be sad today because of lost loved ones and they have been in my prayers too.

We went to the Botanic Gardens on Saturday (it was something good to do outside, since we really aren't getting Kate out much yet)...beautiful day...and that "My Big Backyard" is fabulous! We had a picnic lunch and let the kids play and walked the gardens for a while.....that was really what I asked for Mother's day...and Rob was great to take us! I made tons of pictures, but I didn't post them all because I am sick of waiting on them to download....

These two are pretty crazy about little sister.....Bo says a thousand times a day "Le' me give her some shuga!" and Lane says "Dats a weet little girl" when she talks to Kate in her baby talk voice a thousand times a day! Now they haven't been getting along with each other so great, but she is their princess right now! They want her to go up each night to "read and do prayers" with them. They are so excited when she is in the van with them. They do not like poopy diapers and are sure to tell you when she has one! (Bo can imitated that forceful explosion sound well!)
